The 20th Annual Algoma Traditional Music, Dance, and Heritage Arts Family Camp is getting tuned up for its renowned annual Staff Concert, featuring nationally- and internationally-recognized performers from across Canada, scheduled for Wednesday, August 16, 7:30pm at the Centennial Grounds in Richards Landing. Admission is a pay-what-you-can sliding scale of $20-$30, children 12&under free; pay by cash at the door or purchase by credit card online HERE. Please bring a chair or blanket!

The AlgomaTrad Family Camp is an inspiring week of inclusive and all-ages/levels of workshops, concerts, and heritage arts, taking place at the AlgomaTrad Centre, 1249 F&G Line on St. Joseph Island. The Camp runs from Monday evening, August 14 to Sunday morning, August 20.  There are still a few residential camper spots available as well as room for daycampers – check out complete information about AlgomaTrad 2023 at algomatrad.ca/camp/.

Over 20 workshop instructors from across Canada will lead workshops in a wide array of options including fiddle, bagpipes,  piano, guitar, tin whistle, singing, mandolin, banjo, square and Irish set dancing, and stepdancing, to name a few. This year we are celebrating themusic of Brian Pickell, a composer of Canadian fiddle music and song who has composed numerous tunes for supporters of the AlgomaTrad community.

Immersive heritage craft and arts workshops will include a community arts project with facilitator Ruth Howard, (award-winning founder of Jumblies Theatre Company),  blacksmithing with Denis Frechette, printmaking with artist Ian Bell, willow basketry with Johnny Suderman, and artscapes, storytelling, and theatre for children with Shifra Cooper.

The Annual AlgomaTrad Staff Concert Extravaganza will feature an incredible evening of music by all the award-winning and renowned staff members who are attending the Camp. Bios and pictures of the performers can be seen at algomatrad.ca/camp/team/
