AlgomaTrad Twelfth Night Family Dance, Friday, January 6, 2017

single post

The first dance of 2017 and a fundraiser for work on the heritage centre!

800px-twelfth001-300x214The first dance will feature a Twelfth Night theme, an old custom to welcome the new year…come dressed in costume (or not, no expectations!), the world is turned upside down, all is not as it seems, sometimes women dress as men and vice versa, and a king and queen are chosen by whomever gets the bean and the pea baked in a Wassail cake. We’ll have non-alcoholic Wassail to toast to everyone’s good health and a great apple harvest in the coming year…well, that’s what it once was for. For us we just want to share the spirit of the new year with dancing and merriment!

Friday, January 6, 2017. 7:30PM to 11PM, Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Richards Landing. Featuring The O’Schraves and local callers

The O’Schraves

From 7:30pm to 8pm Dances for Wee Dancers and their Guardians. Julie Schryer will lead dances specifically for young children and their guardians – parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, older brothers and sisters, what a great way to interact and learn with the Wee Dancers in your family!

8pm – Contras and Squares, featuring local callers and special guests! All welcome, no experience necessary.

Entrance by donation, funds to go towards the Heritage Centre Building Fund. Timbersmith and Designer Michael Neelin, RiverSong Design, is coming from the Perth area in January to assess the Dining Hall at the old music camp as we make plans to add an addition and renovate it for the future.
