AlgomaTrad Street Dance in the Sault!
single post
If you head to Queen Street in the Sault next Thursday, July 18th, you’ll find you won’t be able to get through between Pim Street and Dennis Street. The traffic will have a sudden change from cars to humans as the street will be crowded with people. The O’Schraves will be there from 7:30 to 9:30 in the second square leading an AlgomaTrad Street Dance… by that, of course meaning an all-ages square/contra dance in the street, not to be confused with street breakdancers or anything (far more fun than that!) The dance will be led by AlgomaTrad caller Dan Gorno and should be an exciting opportunity to experience traditional culture in the middle of downtown Sault Ste. Marie on such a huge scale! Other cultural events will be occurring along the street as well, with several big tents featuring unique drinks and many different performers. Parking will be north of Bay Street around Bingham Street between Spring and Brock, which is nice and close to the dance. It should be an engaging event for the public, young and old alike, and will be a great way to show many people just how much fun traditional music and dance can be!
