First Fall AlgomaTrad Dance, Sept. 29, Euchre Tournament Fundraiser, Sept 28, and FINEST KIND this weekend!
single post
The fun never seems to stop here at AlgomaTrad central – we have 3 events occurring this month, a bit of something for everyone!
EUCHRE TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISER DETAILS CHANGED: The tournament WILL STILL OCCUR on Friday, September 28th, 7pm-10:30pm, at the Legion Hall in Richards Landing, BUT THERE WILL BE NO CASH PRIZES; we just found out that this is illegal in Ontario. Entry into the tournament, a fundraiser for AlgomaTrad, WILL NOW BE $10 and there will be door prizes. The tournament will still be progressive – each player will play with a different partner each game and record their individual score throughout the evening, but all you will get is bragging rights. Register by contacting Barb at 705 248 1564. Proceeds to help pay for the operating expenses of the AlgomaTrad Family Camp.
FIRST FALL DANCE – Weeeeee’re BACK! Time to Dance! Saturday, September 29, 7:30 PM, Royal Canadian Legion, Richards Landing, $10/person, $5/students, kids 10 and under free. Awesome caller Dan Gorno will be on hand to lead us and music will be provided by The O’Schraves (featuring 2012 Pembroke Fiddle Contest first place winners for 18-and-under and 9-and-under respectively, Benoit Schryer Lefebvre and Áine Schryer O’Gorman!), Special Guests and AlgomaTrad students.
Finest Kind Poster “FINEST KIND” THIS WEEKEND – “… exquisite harmonies and brilliant vocal arrangements” of several folk traditions including British, American, and Canadian (more info about Finest Kind here). Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind concert, Finest Kind has never performed in the Algoma region before now, and they’ve played major music festivals across North America and Europe. This coming weekend at 2 locations – Friday, September 14, 7:30pm, Central United Church, 160 Spring St., Sault Ste. Marie, a fundraiser for the Central United Church, admission by freewill donation; and Saturday, September 15, 8:00pm, Bruce Mines United Church, a co-production with the Sylvan Circle Arts Tour (sylvancircle.ca), tickets $20, $15/students, $5/children 12 and under, available at the door or on-line here.
AlgomaTrad – more family fun than you can shake a stick at….whatever that means!!!!
