AlgomaTrad Spring 2021 Virtual Learning and Sharing Program

single post

AlgomaTrad announces a 2021 Spring Online Learning and Sharing Program for all ages for 4 weeks from March 15 to to April 08. In an effort to expand on the learning, sharing, and connections that were fostered in our winter session, our spring session is an extension of what transpired, while also giving us the opportunity to welcome new participants to join in the fun! The program is open to anyone though level guidelines do apply as most instructors will be picking up from where they left off in February. This program is not supported by a grant so there will be a fee. All sessions will be delivered online through the Zoom platform.  Please see the schedule, class descriptions, fees, and more registration information.

Six instructors will offer weekly mentorship for: fiddle (beginner, novice, and intermediate), bagpipes (beginner chanter); tin whistle (beginner); small children singing and games (accompanied by a caregiver); Piano (learning by ear); and Plant-based Cooking. Julie Schryer and Pat O’Gorman will also host a weekly 1-hour Sharing Music and Art session where everyone will be invited to share music or art they are working on.

Mentors/instructors include Kerry Fitzgerald (intermediate fiddle), Chelsea Sleep (beginner fiddle), James Stephens (Novice fiddle), Hannah Naiman (singing and games for small children and caregiver), Julie Schryer (piano), Pat O’Gorman (bagpipes, tin whistle) and Hannah-Lee Lawrence (plant-based cooking). See bios and photos of mentors/instructors.

Training will be available for using Zoom prior to the beginning of the program.

For residents of the Central Algoma/North Shore region only:

A limited number of instruments are available on a loan basis for the 4-week length of the program, please indicate need on registration form.
