maureen Mulvey picMaureen Mulvey was raised in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim, Ireland. She started teaching dance with the local dancing teacher Carmel O’Rourke when she was 13 years old. Maureen has been teaching Irish dance for 40 years, and is renowned throughout North America for her ability to take beginners and turn them into fine dancers in an evening! She teaches children stepdancing and ceili dancing and adults ceili, set dancing, and two hand dances. Maureen calls Ceilis (Irish dances) all over Ontario as well as at weddings, showers and birthdays. Maureen has also taught in Drumshanbo, Ireland; as part of the Celtic Roots College and Festival in Goderich, Ontario; at the Chris Langan Traditional Music weekend in Toronto; and at conventions of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (the international organization for the celebration and advancement of Irish traditional music and dance) in Toronto, Washington, San Francisco, and New Jersey.

For 15 years Maureen has organized and taught at Irish summer camps in Sudbury, Toronto, Durham, Mississauga, and Oshawa. She was recently been featured on Nationwide a TV show in Ireland and is a member of the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Canadian Eastern Region Hall of Fame for her dedication to teaching. Her passion for dance is reflected in her continued commitment to teaching Irish dancing.
