Ariel Step Dancing
The Algoma Traditional Music and Dance Group is staging a fundraiser for its educational programmes with a 2-day music, dance, and silent auction extravaganza, June 3 and 4, at the Hilton Beach Community Hall.
A concert featuring The O’Schraves (the O’Gorman/Schryer/Lefebvre family) and Champion Ontario Stepdancer Ariel Hyatt, as well as other special guests, will kick off the weekend at 7:30PM on Friday, June 3.
Tickets for this show are $15/adults, $10/ students, or $30/immediate family and are available at Ambeault’s, Kentvale, Kent’s Corners, and 17E Trading Post. A silent auction will begin during this concert and continue all day Saturday from 10AM and throughout the evening dance.
On Saturday afternoon, a Recital will start at 2PM, showcasing the results of the hard work of local students throughout the past year. It promises to be a fun-filled afternoon with arrangements for a variety of groups of musicians and dancers, and will include fiddle, piano, tin whistle, and stepdance performances. Admission to the recital is free.
An AlgomaTrad all-ages, beginner-friendly, contra/square dance will finish off the weekend in style on Saturday evening, 7:30 PM, with caller Dan Gorno, music by The O’Schraves and special guests, admission by donation. Winners of the silent auction will be posted at the end of intermission.
AlgomaTrad is accepting donations for the auction. Created articles, services, gift certificates, even good recycled or used items etc, are welcome. AlgomaTrad encourages items with minimal packaging as part of its green philosophy.
