AlgomaTrad “Come&Try” Music Program, Saturday, November 30, Richards Landing

single post

AlgomaTrad, in partnership with the St. Joseph Island Central Public School, is presenting a daylong “Come&Try” music program at the Old Town Hall in Richards Landing on Saturday, November 30 from 10AM to 4PM. This program follows in-school presentations of instruments on Friday, November 29, in preparation for a 6-week pilot music program at the school in the new year.

Class choices will include: introduction to fiddle, ukulele, Irish tin whistle, or the bagpipe practice chanter. Classes are for 8 years and up, unless otherwise stated, and will be one hour in length in a group setting. All workshops are free but limited to 10 participants each.  No experience is necessary.  Instruments will be supplied.  A parent or caregiver must be with any child who is under 10 years of age.

You can choose more than one instrument during the day (for example, fiddle in Period 1, ukulele in Period 2, and tin whistle in Period 3), but you should only take an instrument once during the day so we can make room for as many participants as possible.

There will also be a fun Singing Games and Dance period at 1:15PM, recommended for children 4 to 7 years old, accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

A Come and Sing! period geared for students 8 & up will also occur in the afternoon.

The schedule can be seen HERE.

This Program is funded in part by the Nicholas Missere and Brook Nadjiwon Memorial Bursary Funds. Both Nick and Brook were promising young musicians from the St. Joseph Island School community. We continue to remember them and their passion for music.
