AlgomaTrad is pleased to partner with Over the Rainbow Children’s Entertainment of Sault Ste. Marie to present award-winning children’s performer Hannah Shirah Naiman at the Sault Community Theatre Centre (CTC), Sunday June 04 at 2pm. The concert in the Theatre will be immediately followed by a family dance for children and their families in the Black Box behind the auditorium. Tickets are $18/adults and $15/children and are available online HERE or at the CTC Box Office in the Station Mall.

Hannah Shira Naiman has been leading classes, workshops and concerts for babies and children of all ages for over a decade; she draws her repertoire from folk music and dance traditions in english and in french. A multi-instrumentalist, Hannah plays clawhammer banjo, old-time fiddle, ukulele and guitar. She is a member of Mariposa in the Schools, an organization dedicated to bringing high quality music to the school children of Ontario, and she works for Le Petit Atelier, Toronto’s only french children’s music organization for daycares and after school programs.

Hannah’s first CD, “Savez-vous plantez des choux?” was distributed to more than 10,000 babies across Ontario as part of the Early Years Literacy Kit. “Here We Go Zodeo”, a CD recorded with Kathy Reid-Naiman, was awarded a 2012 Parents’ Choice Gold Award and was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award and a SiriusXM Indie Award.

Hannah was the recipient of a 2017 Canadian Folk Music Association Award for Traditional Singer of the Year and her 2021 recording “Ca suffit pour s’amuser” was nominated for Best Children’s Album at that year’s CFMA Awards.

Hannah has taught at the AlgomaTrad Family Camp and presented online programs for hundreds of local children in 2021 for the Algoma District School Board’s French as a Second Language Program.

Hannah will also be calling a community dance at the Algoma Trad Centre Pavilion on St. Joseph Island on Saturday, June 03, at 7pm. More information coming soon!
