What is Eco Printing?

Eco printing creates (more or less perfect) prints of leaves, using the natural pigments, tannins and acids present in leaves, by combining them with mordants, moisture and heat on fabric or paper.

Workshop

In this workshop we’ll be looking at two methods of eco printing: steaming on pre-naturally dyed silk and submersing paper in the “dirty pot” While our bundles are processing, we’ll discuss the process of mordanting and natural dyes.

  • We will be working with rust carrier blankets and rust water, aprons or older clothes are recommended and gloves (provided for you) are a must.
  • Vinegar will also be used.

Eco printing is a fun and exciting way to create beautiful pieces, with what you can find in your backyard!
