Robert Alan Mackie is a double bassist, violinist, and writer from Covehead Road, PEI, now living in Toronto, Ontario. Since 2013 he has been a prolific accompanist in trad, Americana, and jazz communities across Canada, Scandinavia, and Europe, but his many experiments in new music trace networks of trails through the grey space between these genres – the fiddle-centric quartet Vinta, appearing at AlgomaTrad 2022; duo collaborations in folk dancing music with Jaron Freeman-Fox, Lies Hendrix (BE) and Katariina Tirmaste (EE); the poetry collective robertalanfuturehearts; and Hairbrain, a surrealist song-and-dance show with Anh Phung. Robert Alan Mackie is also glad to count Bella White, Quinn Bachand, Staerna (SE), and Aerialists as partners on stage and in the studio.
