AlgomaTrad will be offering group classes in fiddle, piano accompaniment, Irish tin whistle, and bagpipes at the St. Joseph Island Central Public School in Richards Landing every Tuesday evening for 5 weeks starting on Tuesday, February 5th. Instructors for the classes are Julie Schryer, fiddle and piano, and Pat O’Gorman, tin whistle and pipes. Fee for entire 5-week session is $75/$50 for students (a bursary fund is available to help support those who might need some assistance – please enquire, all enquiries are confidential). Classes are 55 minutes. Schedule is as follows:
5:30 | Beginner Fiddle | |
6:30 | Novice Fiddle – for fiddlers who are ready to learn tunes at a slow, relaxed pace | Beginner Tin Whistle – learn the basics of this accessible instrument through simple tunes |
7:30 | Intermediate Fiddle – tunes will be learned at a faster pace, and more repertoire will be covered | Novice/Intermediate Tin Whistle – learn more advanced tunes from several traditions |
8:30 | Piano Accompaniment – Intermediate – develop your ability to accompany tune players. | Intermediate Bagpipes – for pipers who can play a variety of tunes at a medium tempo and would like to learn tunes to play with other instruments. |
