Myriam Lefebvre

single post

Myriam grew up in the world of traditional music. As part of the Schryer family, she has been immersed in the fiddle and step dancing scene throughout her life. Traveling on tour with her mother, Julie Schryer, she partook in many workshops, some of which included Irish step dancing, Irish set dancing, and Ottawa Valley step. At the age of seven, Myriam began taking highland dance lessons. She studied with the MacLeod Highland Dance Studio for 11 years competing, performing and successfully completing yearly examinations by the Scottish Dance Teachers’ Alliance. She is now a certified dance teacher with the Scottish Dance Teacher’s Alliance, having passed this examination highly commended. In recent years while living in Ottawa, Myriam has studied intensively with the well known three-time international step dance champion, Gilles Roy, whose distinct style is a blend of Irish and French Canadian. Myriam has taught, competed, performed and choreographed, and has a strong understanding of the relationship between music and dance.
